Description:

Astella is a mixed-use multi-family boutique apartment development located in San Francisco, CA.  The project consists of four-story wood framed structures over a podium level of concrete with 135 subterranean parking stalls below, as well as a partial concrete lid over the two-story volume retail space.  The post-tensioned concrete podium decks support 185 apartment units and 5000 SF of retail space.  FBA is the concrete structural engineer for the project and a design-build team with RJS & Associates to bring the most efficient design to the owner.  The podium footprint was approximately 68,600 square feet.

Structural system for the building is a concrete post-tensioned slabs with concrete shear walls supported on a mat foundation.
