Wheeler Plaza is a mixed-use, transit oriented development directly adjacent to the Caltrain station in San Carlos, CA.
The project consists of three-stories of wood framed residential with central courtyards supported on a concrete post-tensioned podium, with a footprint near 72,500 square feet, over two elevated levels of concrete: at Level 2 and at street level, over subterranean parking. The design includes 109 residential units, 10,000 square feet of retail, 254 public parking spaces and 192 residential parking with electric vehicle charging stations for both areas.
FBA designed the concrete portion of the project, including three post-tensioned concrete slabs, concrete columns and walls supported on spread/strip footings. The seismic resisting system consists of concrete shear walls.
