Avalon Ocean Avenue is a mixed-use, transit development, consisting of a Whole Foods Market and parking at street level, subterranean parking, and podium slabs supporting three and four stories of wood framing.  The Whole Foods Market is supported on an elevated reinforced concrete slab, with a two-story volume and widely spaced concrete columns, allowing for an open layout.  FBA provided a thorough coordination and TI design with the Whole Foods designers and MEP consultants to allow for the unique needs of a grocery store. Avalon Ocean Ave is located near a MUNI station for easy transportation and is located in San Francisco, CA.

The design includes a subterranean garage, a street level slab supporting nearly a 27,000 sq. ft. Whole Foods market, parking, leasing and fitness areas, and a portion of Brighten Avenue, designed for extensive landscaping and fire truck access loading.  There are two 3 and 4-story buildings above Level 2 which are supported on two concrete post-tensioned podiums which house 173 units total.  

The structural system for the building is post-tensioned and reinforced concrete slabs with concrete shear walls supported on spread footings.
